Ingredients:
Puff Pastry dough, thawed
1 tablespoon margarine (canola oil or coconut oil can also be used)
1 egg, whisked
Apple Pie Filling:
2 large apples (gala or granny smith)
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon allspice
2 tablespoons flour
Juice of 1 lemon
Cinnamon Glaze:
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 T almond milk
1 t vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions:
1. Peel and dice apples.
2. Combine diced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, flour and lemon.
3. Place diced apples in a sauce pan with margarine and cook until apples are softened.
4. Place thawed puff pastry on floured surface.
4. Slice down lengthwise and then across, forming rectangles.
5. Place apple pie filling on half of the rectangles. Cover with the remaining rectangles.
6. Using a fork, press down around the edges.
7. Brush tops of puff pastry with whisked egg.
8. Place on parchment lined baking sheet and bake on 350′ for about 20 to 25 minutes or until puff pastry is lightly puffed and cooked.
9. Allow to cool off before topping with cinnamon glaze.
